SunWater Solar’s Justin Weil and Chris Chappell joined colleagues from throughout the solar thermal industry last week for a workshop hosted by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). Held at CPUC headquarters in San Francisco, this event attracted leading solar thermal manufacturers, installers and integrators, along with energy consultants and representatives from utility companies and the CPUC.

The full-day public input session was attended by many, including SunWater Solar, who are on the front lines of the growing solar thermal industry. Industry feedback is invaluable to the CPUC, which administers the CSI-T (California Solar Initiative-Thermal) program. The CSI-T program sets an excellent example for the nation, and will expand with the addition of technologies such as process heating, solar cooling and space heating to the program.

SunWater Solar has played a leading role in developing the CSI-T program, which allocates $358.3 million in rebate money for residential and commercial solar thermal installations. As of today, SunWater Solar has administered nearly $250,000 in rebate applications for our customers. This number will only go up as more commercial building owners take the plunge and go thermal.
