The SunWater Solar team has been working recently with friends from Schuco, another leading solar technology company, to construct a solar hot water demonstration project that will be part of an upcoming showcase of solar technologies in San Jose.

The City of San Jose’s “Green Vision Solar Showcase Center” will be located across the street from City Hall, and will be open to the public from December 2010 through the end of December 2011. City staff plan to lead weekend tours of the showcase, which will serve as an educational demonstration tool for the community by providing hands-on experience with solar technologies. Exhibiting organizations will also be on-hand for additional tours and workshops.

Showcase participants include numerous solar companies, municipal organizations and other groups. Participating organizations are donating all project materials and their time, while other aspects of the showcase (i.e. electrical infrastructure set-up, security fence installation) are funded by a grant awarded to San Jose by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Donors determine the look and feel of their demonstration projects. Some, including SunWater Solar, are constructing sheds with eye-level rooftops, while others are doing ground-mounted projects.
