Home » Blog » Solar Water Heating on the Rise among Multifamily Building Owners

An article in last week’s San Francisco Chronicle did a great job describing the growing trend of multifamily buildings in the U.S. “going green” in various ways, including the adoption of solar water heating. The article describes several factors that are driving the fast growth of green technology use by multifamily buildings. These factors include: the need to reduce building energy bills, tenants’ desire to live an eco-friendly urban lifestyle, and the drive to achieve LEED certification and meet building codes.

SunWater Solar’s experience in the U.S. solar thermal market has shown us that real estate companies and other organizations that own multifamily buildings increasingly view solar water heating (and other green technologies) as a competitive advantage. Besides lowering buildings’ operating expenses, solar water heating also helps attract quality investors and quality tenants. We are happy to see more multifamily buildings investing in solar water heating, and believe that this trend will only continue as the technology’s benefits become more widely known and appreciated in the U.S.
